The arts provide a creative way to express what is inside. Bridging the internal world to external expression.
Images remain confidential providing an opportunity to express what is really being felt.
All behaviour serves a purpose and helped us at some point. It may get to the point where it no longer serves us. That these defences are now preventing us to have positive relationships with others and a relationship to ourselves.
Currently we have a qualified Art Therapist who is HCPC registered and a member of BAAT. Through using tactile materials (unless digital art making) it allows us to use sensory items like art materials to calming our nervous system, allowing you to be present and curious to marks being made.
Offering an opportunity to start with a mark and take it on a journey. As our hands know the way, and often our head gets in the way (those defences).
We know that trauma is not held in verbal. Instead stays inside the body ( the body keeps the score) .We use verbal communication but the art and process of art making provides opportunity to reflect and make personal reflecting meaning. Images are not diagnosed as meaning comes from supporting the client to find personal meaning and understanding.
