Our creative expression groups offer a supportive, confidential space where individuals can explore their emotions and experiences through art, drama, music, and movement. Led by qualified facilitators, these sessions are not therapy, but they can be therapeutic. They are designed to help individuals express themselves in a creative and non-judgmental environment, promoting connection, healing, and personal growth.
The groups are flexible and co-created, with no defined programme of activities. Instead, they respond to the interests and needs of the participants, ensuring a tailored experience for each group. Sessions may include specific materials, themes, or activities, depending on the group’s needs.
We offer both possibility of open (drop-in) and closed groups, with sessions available for adults, children, or parent-child/family sessions. We can also provide specialised groups for individuals with specific needs, such as children in care, SEND needs, those who have experienced domestic abuse.
The aim of the group is to foster creativity, connection, and promote wellbeing. By engaging in creative expression, participants can build self-esteem, reduce isolation, and improve their overall health. It’s not about learning art techniques, but about the freedom to explore new forms of expression and gain meaning through the process.
We believe that all behaviour serves a purpose. Art and creativity provide a unique way to express emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Our group space, whether in person or online, is a safe place to process these emotions and connect with others.
We approach each individual’s creation as an opportunity to explore meaning—drawing from science, history, stories, and personal experiences. Healing is already within the individual, through the act of creation, the group dynamic, and the shared space of expression can wellbeing be improved.
Group size depends on rooms and individuals able to attend. Sessions last normally 1.5hrs and are weekly, although this can be adapted for groups needs. These have also been 1 off group events.
Depending on group it may be that there is a flat rate for the group, pay per person/family attending as different services may be funding a group, attendee to pay themselves or when we receive community funding to provide free/reduced rate sessions.
Funded by services
